Weekly Service - Sunday 2nd May

Sunday 2nd May - 5th Sunday of Easter

GOOD MORNING & WELCOME ALL TO OUR SUNDAY GATHERING - IN CHURCH AND ONLINE

This morning’s service comes from Holy Trinity, Hotwells. Frances will be leading the service this morning with, music, readings & prayers and the talk from Richard, all streamed Live on Facebook at 10:30am.

Our bible readings for today are Acts 8.26-40 and John 15.1-8

As we are streaming the live service from church you may just wish to enjoy watching and listening to the words (liturgy), you will also be able to follow the church screen at times. If you would prefer to follow along more closely please download the service booklet linked below.

If you are watching from home and missing seeing people from church, is there someone you can make contact with to see if they fancy joining you for a chat on WhatsApp / Zoom / Facetime or the telephone after the Live Stream service? Grab a coffee and have a catch up much like you would in church on a Sunday morning. If you are not sure who you could make contact with please speak to Vicar Lee or one of the churchwardens (Dave, Jeanette, Maria or Alan) and we will see what we can arrange for you.

wave of hope

Make a hand, pop it in your window, and call for a just and green recovery.

As the UK prepares to host the G7 summit of world leaders this June, it's time to use our prophetic voices to help shape a more just world. A world that provides vaccines and healthcare for all, fights poverty and injustice, and helps end the climate crisis.

Join people across the UK in a ‘Wave of Hope’, by drawing, tracing, printing or painting a hand and displaying it in your window ahead of the G7.

Let’s show the Prime Minister we stand alongside each other to tackle injustice, no matter where we are.

A Closing Prayer

A Prayer for the Local Elections on 6th May

Lord, we give thanks for the privileges and responsibilities of living in a democratic society.

Give us wisdom to play our part at election time, that, through the exercise of each vote, your Kingdom may come closer.

Protect us from the sins of despair and cynicism, guard us against the idols of false utopias and strengthen us to make the politics a noble calling that serves the common good of all.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Amen.
