Sunday 20th June - 3rd Sunday after Trinity
GOOD MORNING & WELCOME ALL TO OUR SUNDAY GATHERING - IN CHURCH AND ONLINE
This morning’s service comes from Holy Trinity, Hotwells. Nick will be leading the service this morning with, music, readings & prayers and the talk from Adrian, all streamed Live on Facebook at 10:30am.
Our bible readings for today are 2 Corinthians 6.1-13 and Matthew 8.23-27
As we are streaming the live service from church you may just wish to enjoy watching and listening to the words (liturgy), you will also be able to follow the church screen at times. If you would prefer to follow along more closely please download the slides linked below.
If you are watching from home and missing seeing people from church, is there someone you can make contact with to see if they fancy joining you for a chat on WhatsApp / Zoom / Facetime or the telephone after the Live Stream service? Grab a coffee and have a catch up much like you would in church on a Sunday morning. If you are not sure who you could make contact with please speak to Vicar Lee or one of the churchwardens (Dave, Jeanette, Maria or Alan) and we will see what we can arrange for you.
*** UPDATE: a recording of the service has now been added below, apologies that there is a problem with the sound until about 9 mins in. ***
JUNIOR & SMALL CHURCH
This week’s worksheets are linked to the other readings from the lectionary, focusing on the David & Goliath story. This includes an active prayer suggestion involving searching for different shaped rocks and an activity to write your own family Psalm . . .
You will also find more useful links for families on the Junior & Small Church Resources page.
thought for the week
With this week’s Gospel reading about a storm I was reminded of these words tweeted by Damian Barr in April 2020 - they have been quoted & used by many others since then.
Here are a few more words from Damian expanding on this quote. . .
So, friends, we are not in the same boat. We are going through a time when our perceptions and needs are completely different. And each one will emerge, in his own way, from that storm. It is very important to see beyond what is seen at first glance. Not just looking, more than looking, seeing. See beyond the political party, beyond biases, beyond the nose on your face. Do not judge the good life of the other, do not condemn the bad life of the other. Don't be a judge. Let us not judge the one who lacks, as well as the one who exceeds him. We are on different ships looking to survive. Let everyone navigate their route with respect, empathy and responsibility.
Closing Prayer for Father’s Day
Gracious God,
bless fathers and all father figures
with such love and faithfulness
that children flourish and grow
in uprightness and joy.
Bless those who long to be fathers
and those for whom this day is difficult.
Amen
