Weekly Service - Sunday 15th November

Sunday 15th November - 2nd Sunday before advent

Good Morning & welcome all to our virtual Sunday Gathering

Dru will be leading the service this morning with music, readings & prayers and the talk from Alan all streamed Live on Facebook at 10:30am from Holy Trinity.

Our bible readings for today are 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and Matthew 25:14-30

The words (liturgy) for the service will be on the overhead screen which we will be showing on the live-stream. If you would like to follow along more closely a copy of these words are in the slides linked below, along with the words for the 3 songs, if you would like to join in at home.

If you are missing seeing people from church is there someone you can make contact with to see if they fancy joining you for a chat on WhatsApp / Zoom / Facetime or the telephone after the Live Stream service? Grab a coffee and have a catch up much like you would in church on a Sunday morning. If you are not sure who you could make contact with please speak to Vicar Lee or one of the churchwardens (Dave, Jeanette, Maria or Alan) and we will see what we can arrange for you.

***Update: a recording of the service has been added below***

JUNIOR & SMALL CHURCH

With churches in the UK returning to online meetings this month, what examples of hospitality and service will we miss seeing each week while we can't meet in Church buildings?

How can we recreate these examples of service for our children each week?

This ‘Serving Church @ Home’ resource helps families think about the roles we are missing on a Sunday and how we could recreate them.

You will also find more useful links for families on the Junior & Small Church Resources page.

#PrayerForTheNation

daily call to pray for the nation at 6pm

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York and senior church leaders have called a month of Prayer for the Nation during the second lockdown. Read more here

Throughout the month, Christians will be encouraged to pray daily for a specific area of national concern, wherever they are, culminating in a collective moment of prayer at 6pm each evening, with cathedrals and churches across the country invited to ring a bell at this time.

Christians will be encouraged to follow a simple seven-day prayer cycle, praying for a specific area each day including the NHS and frontline workers, the bereaved, and those struggling with physical and mental ill-health, and for children and young people. The suggestion is that as many of us as possible unite to do this at 6pm each day.

“We call upon the Church of England to make November 2020 a month of prayer for our nation. We know that we are in the faithful hands of the risen Christ who knows our weaknesses, tiredness and struggles and whose steadfast love endures forever.”

Below are a few prayers and themes offered as tools to enable all to participate. You can also join in with this call to prayer by following the Facebook page of The Archbishop of Canterbury, as well as many other resources being shared by faith leaders from around the country, on all the social media platforms - search for #PrayerForTheNation.

For our closing prayer this Sunday

Heavenly Lord,

Do not let us neglect Your Spirit or the gifts You have given us. Give us the courage to use these gifts and the humility to not use them for our glory, but for You and Your glory. Help us see the good work You have ready for us and embrace that work with willingness and joy.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
